How RollforNews Builds the Daily Rundown.
RollforNews is designed to make catching up on the news faster and more engaging without changing the underlying responsibility to be accurate, clear, and fair.
One Daily Rundown
Every player receives the same eight daily categories: Politics, World, Business, Money, Technology, Science, Sports, and Entertainment. The order is randomized during play, but the editorial content is the same for everyone.
Story Selection
Each rundown focuses on developments judged to be among the most important, useful, or broadly relevant stories in that category for the day. RollforNews does not attempt to reproduce an endless news feed or cover every story.
Sources
Rundowns are prepared using reputable reporting, primary documents, official statements, public records, and other appropriate sources. Sources used for a rundown are linked when available so readers can review the underlying reporting or material directly.
AI Assistance and Human Review
Artificial intelligence may be used to assist with research organization, drafting, summarization, or editing. AI-generated material is not intended to be published without human review. Each published rundown is reviewed for accuracy, context, clarity, tone, and source support before publication.
Fairness and Context
RollforNews aims to distinguish verified facts from claims, provide relevant context, and avoid presenting opinion as fact. When a story is disputed, uncertain, or developing, the rundown should make that uncertainty clear.
Corrections
If we learn that a published rundown contains a material factual error or misleading omission, we aim to correct it promptly. Readers can report possible errors through the Contact page.
What the Dice Do
The dice affect the game experience, score, and the order in which categories appear. They do not determine which facts are included, alter the substance of a rundown, or personalize the news for individual players.
The game should make reading the news more enjoyable. It should never make the news less trustworthy.
A Simple Game With Minimal Data.
RollforNews is intentionally designed without user accounts, profiles, saved score histories, or personalized news feeds.
No Account Required
You do not need to create an account, provide a name, or submit an email address to play RollforNews.
Game Progress on Your Device
RollforNews uses your browser's local storage to remember same-day game progress, including completed categories, dice rolls, and score. This information is stored on your device so you can refresh or return later without losing the current day's session.
Starting again clears the current RollforNews game state stored for that session. Browser settings or clearing site data may also remove saved progress.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
RollforNews collects limited anonymous usage analytics to understand whether the game is working properly and how people interact with it. This may include events such as loading the game, rolling the dice, completing categories or a full game, changing reading mode or dice color, and encountering certain technical errors.
Analytics may also include general technical information such as browser family, operating system, device type, and approximate screen-size category. RollforNews does not use these analytics to create personal profiles and does not collect names, email addresses, precise location, raw browser user-agent strings, or persistent cross-session player identifiers for this purpose.
A temporary random session identifier may be used during a browser session to group related game events. It is not intended to identify you and is not used to track you across separate browsing sessions.
Daily News Content
RollforNews retrieves the day's published rundowns from its content database. The game does not require a personal profile to determine which rundown you receive; every player receives the same daily content.
Technical Information
Like most websites, RollforNews and the services used to host or operate it may process basic technical information needed to deliver the site, maintain security, diagnose errors, or understand general site performance. Depending on the service, this can include information such as browser or device information, IP address, and request logs.
